Boarding for Cats with Special Needs

When you have a cat with special needs, you may find it challenging to find the proper care for your pet.

This may make going on vacation or spending long periods away from your cat seemingly impossible, but Whiskers is able to make special accommodations by offering our TLC Package to ensure they get the right amount of care and personal attention.

TLC Special Needs Program

We understand that leaving a cat with advanced age or chronic health challenges can be an emotional experience. Our mission is to make travel possible again by providing a level of expertise and compassion that matches your own. When your cat stays with us, they aren't just boarded—they are meticulously cared for, fiercely loved, and protected. We look forward to partnering with you to ensure your cat’s stay is safe, comfortable, and full of Tender Loving Care.

A Safe, Loving Environment for Unique Challenges

At Whiskers, we ensure every cat enjoys a comfortable, deeply restorative, and stress-free stay. For a specialized care program fee of $10 per day, we provide highly attentive, expert care for guests navigating unique health and life stages:

  • Cherished Life Stages: Playful kittens under 4 months of age who require high-frequency socialization, as well as senior feline guests requiring dedicated geriatric comfort care.

  • Active Health Challenges: Specialized accommodations and routine medical support for guests managing Asthma, Seizures, Cancer, IBD, or careful post-surgical healing and recovery.

  • Sensory & Mobility Needs: Tailored environment layouts to support blind or deaf cats, alongside specialized orthopedic comforts for felines with arthritis or physical mobility limitations.

  • Dietary & Digestive Care: Support for delicate or underweight guests, digestive sensitivities, or intensive feeding routines. While standard prescription diets are included in regular boarding, this specialized TLC care program is for guests requiring complex meal preparation or a frequent schedule of 5+ feedings per day administered between 7:30 AM and 7:00 PM.

Medications & Safety Boundaries

Hands-on medication administration is safely provided by our trained cattery team between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

  • Please Note: We are unable to administer insulin injections or board diabetic cats requiring medical management. Felines whose diabetes is completely controlled through diet alone are warmly welcome!

3. MAXIMUM EMERGENCY FINANCIAL AUTHORIZATION

Veterinary Care: You agree to allow Whiskers to obtain veterinarian medical treatment for your cat if it appears that the cat is ill, injured, or exhibits any other behavior that would reasonably suggest that your cat might need medical treatment. Medical treatment may require transportation of your cat to receive care, and you hereby authorize such transportation. You grant Whiskers full authority to make decisions involving the medical treatment of your cat during its stay at Whiskers. You agree that you are fully responsible for the cost of any such medical treatment and transportation. In the event of a serious illness and the owner cannot be contacted, the veterinarian’s decision will be final.

Whiskers Luxury Cat Boarding will always attempt to contact the Owner immediately during a medical crisis. If the Owner cannot be reached, the attending veterinary team requires an immediate spending limit to begin diagnostic testing or stabilizing treatments.

Veterinary Care Authorization
Option A (Unlimited Authorization): Whiskers Luxury Cat Boarding is authorized to approve any and all life-saving veterinary care required to stabilize my cat, regardless of the final invoice cost.
Option B (Limited Authorization): Whiskers Luxury Cat Boarding is authorized to approve emergency medical treatment for my cat up to a maximum cost given below. I understand that if life-saving treatment exceeds this amount and I cannot be reached, care may be withheld by the veterinary clinic.

4. DECEASED PET PROTOCOL & AFTERCARE ARRANGEMENTS

In the deeply unfortunate event that a special needs cat passes away while boarding, Whiskers Luxury Cat Boarding prioritizes treating the feline with the utmost dignity, compassion, and respect. Immediate Transfer Policy: Because our facility does not have the medical infrastructure to safely or hygienically store a deceased pet's body, the cat will be transferred immediately into the professional care of Paws in Paradise, https://pawsinparadisepetcrematory.com/

Aftercare Instruction Selection (Choose One):
Private Cremation: I authorize Paws in Paradise to perform a private cremation so my cat's ashes can be returned to me in a memorial urn.
Pet Burial Garden: I authorize a communal aftercare arrangement through Paws in Paradise.

Note: All third-party transportation, handling, and aftercare costs from Paws in Paradise are the direct financial responsibility of the Owner.

5. EMERGENCY TRANSPORT FEES & PAYMENT TERMS

If an unscheduled or emergency veterinary visit is required, the Owner agrees to the following pricing structure:

  • Emergency Base Fee: $75.00 flat fee per transport.

  • Hourly Time Fee: $50.00 per hour (covers transport, triage, and clinic wait time).

  • Immediate Reimbursement: The Owner is 100% responsible for all third-party veterinary invoices and aftercare fees. Whiskers will utilize the payment method on file to settle these immediate emergency expenses.
